Sanne working on Curacao - Network organization

Country:
CuraƧao

My name is Sanne Vissers. I study communication at the university of Arnhem and Nijmegen in the Netherlands. Finding an internship abroad by myself was not as easy as I expected.  A lot of companies did not respond to my emails and finding a decent place to stay should not be underestimated. When I visited the website of Young Profs, I decided to contact them.

From the beginning onwards the contact and guidance was very good. They told me everything I need to arrange for the immigration office and helped me with finding an internship that met the requirements set by school. Besides that they also arranged a place where I could stay during my internship and a cheap airplane ticket.

When I landed on the island, a YoungProfs employee was awaiting my arrival and brought me to my new apartment. When I set my first steps into the building my housemates were waiting for me with a warm welcome and gave me a tour through the house.

A few days later I started with my internship at a company who is busy developing a successful exclusive social network for the rich people in the world. These people are celebrating their life in style and also want to connect with other people of their status.

During this internship I had the chance to develop my personal skills and learn a lot about this exclusive business. They gave me the opportunity to organize a jazz event for the members of the social network on Curaçao. This turned out to be a great success. After that I got a lot more responsibility that gave the internship a lot more value. The company is very young, so it was nice to see how this company is developing to be a successful social network.

Besides having a great internship I also had a great time on the island. I went to Curaçao all by myself. At first it was a bit scary but I was surprised by the fact how fast you get to know people on the island. There are a lot of students on the island who are also studying abroad so it is very easy to connect to those people.

Thanks to Young Profs I had a great time on the island without much to worry about. They arrange almost everything for you and they are always willing to help during your stay on the island
